FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.  What is the typical range of donations that you are requesting.
A. A typical race costs about $1200 with travel, lodging and entries.  $1000 would basically get me to one race.  I have had donations from $200 to $2000 over the years.

Q. If my business or myself want to help you, how do I we know what the money is being used for?
A.  Everything I receive goes into a Trust Fund set up for me at my club, Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation in Bend, Oregon.  It is only used for direct race costs and I don't get to touch it. 

Q.  Why should we help you when there are many other worthy causes.
A. In this country it is up to us, the athletes to raise our own money for training, equipment and competing.  When our families can't help with it all we can quit or not ... and while it is tough to ask for help I won't give up on my dream.  Helping an aspiring athlete that has proven himself both in his chosen sport and in school, helps to keep us in the sport and to be role models for young kids in our community.  And I also I think the donations are deductible.
